I helped Avison Young principals make efficient use of LinkedIn to create new business opportunities.

Avison Young is the world’s fastest-growing commercial real estate services firm. Avison Young is a collaborative, global firm owned and operated by its principals. Avison Young provides value-added, client-centric investment sales, leasing, advisory, management, financing and mortgage placement services to owners and occupiers of office, retail, industrial, multi-family and hospitality properties.

They have attracted an all-star roster of real estate professionals and use a highly collaborative approach to leverage their expertise for client service and strategic solutions.  With deep bench strength in category knowledge and high quality brand content, they had the foundation to work with.

Using Allison Laux Consulting proprietary tools, I helped them simplify and systematize their personal approaches to LinkedIn:

  • Team training on engagement and content strategy best practices.
  • Profile audits to optimize their personal brands.

The key outcome is that principals are making contacts to generate business.  Also important, they reported having greater social presences, easier and with less time commitment than anticipated.

Canadian Management Centre, a leader in training, like many businesses found that older channels like direct mail weren’t delivering good ROI.  Data provided illumination that customers were seeking them  online and identified the need to reinvent the digital customer experience.  As the digital consultant, I was able to partner with my clients and lead a team of internal and outsourced experts (product, finance, IT, creative, user experience, development, search) to create a new solution.

 It paid off: high value customer leads increased 30% and e-commerce sales, 15%.

Creating a next level Rallying Cry


A young man told me:

"UNITY saved my life".

He dropped the mike after saying that.  It set a tone for my investigation.

Clearly successful in helping young Canadians through tough life transitions, UNITY was growing up and evolving its story.  The plot took some twists and turns over the years so it was time for redefinition.  We needed a promise and rallying cry as a platform for continued progress.

Hip hop is how UNITY pulls in youth.  Hip hop culture encourages individuals to jump into the cypher, compete in battles, take a stand for what they believe in.  Hip hop artists take a risk and put themselves out there.  UNITY creates an experience that supports individuals to go beyond what they thought they could achieve.  

Through commitment to hip hop artistry, they learn to believe in themselves, work at their craft, and enjoy their accomplishments and accolades.  They gain a sense of purpose and self-confidence that changes how they perceive themselves and levels them up so they can then give back to their community.


Our new rallying cry for UNITY is

Take It To The Next.  

It’s a challenge.  It’s a goal.  It’s a promise of something better.

Using my Method, a multi-disciplinary team collaborated at every stage.  The team included UNITY employees, volunteers, youth, and board-members, as well as marketing professionals (Mike Hierlihy and Stephen Brown).  And, of course, we used the creative talent of UNITY to write the rallying cry.

 I helped Kathleen Holland and Katherine Magee sharpen their focus and boldly claim something new was coming, that had never been done before in the field of African and Middle Eastern charitable development.

trade + impact is a ground breaking platform to fuel business growth for leading and rising African and Middle Eastern women social entrepreneurs. 

There is a groundswell of savvy women in Africa and the Middle East who are not only building profitable businesses of scale but creating social enterprises which benefit their local communities.


The trade + impact idea is to engage global business leaders and corporations to provide intellectual capital and connections.  

Backing these women generates a greater ‘return’ than simply the profits of their individual businesses.  The social impact generated includes:
